Beef Tallow Supply
Beef tallow is obtained by rendering beef fat, the resultant product then being bleached, neutralized and deodorized (refined beef tallow). Beef tallow is a whitish substance that is solid at 20°C and gives off a mild odor. It is not water-soluble, but it is soluble in organic solvents. The main components in beef fat are: oleic, palmitic, stearic, palmitoleic, linoleic and myristic acid. Other fatty acids account for <1% of the product.
Benefits of Beef Tallow
Tallow is used for high yield, superior quality grease manufacturing. It can be used as a raw material for the production of biodiesel and other oleochemicals. Tallow is used in the steel rolling industry to provide the required lubrication as the sheet steel is compressed. Tallow is also used as flux for soldering. Tallow is utilized for certain buffing compound formulations. Tallow is a primary ingredient in some leather dressings made in combination with cod oil, vegetable oil, paraffin wax, beeswax, and citronella oil. Tallow is also used in producing synthetic surfactants.
